The addition of three new raids and six additional dungeons represents a sizeable chunk of gameplay for users to sink their teeth into, plus there dozens of background tweaks and balancing has been applied. There's plenty of bang for buck value to be found in Mists of Pandaria. Players are granted anonymity during these contests, which is an odd feature considering how highly bragging rights are valued in games like World of Warcraft. The skirmishes themselves are fun and engaging enough to hook achievements fanatics, with each animal capable of dishing out three attacks. Collecting animals, which are marked out on your map once you have studied the art, is also as entertaining as entering them into the turn-based battles. Players can begin engaging in these as early as level five by visiting the pet trainers located in each capital city. Pet battles have been shamelessly plundered from Pokemon, but are a worthwhile inclusion nonetheless. They also come pre-loaded with a range of passive and physical abilities and introduce the Monk class to the game. For starters, they are Azeroth's first neutral playable race, giving players the opportunity to side with their either Alliance or Horde. However, their expanded role in Mists of Pandaria has a far-reaching impact of the game as a whole. The Pandaren, with their bloated bellies wobbling around as they run, are perhaps World of Warcraft's silliest race to date. It's a visually impressive region with some glorious architecture to feast your eyes upon, but players won't get to see the majority of it until much later in the game. The new continent resides on the back of a giant turtle in Discworld-like fashion. Pandaria and the Pandaren that inhabit it are a few shades more colourful than what World of Warcraft players are accustomed to, but this works in the game's favour, giving rise to the impression of a new experience. The result appears to have paid dividends for Blizzard in a time of heightened competition, with hordes of level 85 players descending on the Chinese-inspired continent of Pandaria to soak up all it has to offer. The level cap has risen to 90, the talent system has been overhauled, and Pokemon-esque pet battles have been incorporated. Its playable inhabitants are called Pandaren, a race of humanoid pandas heavily influenced by ancient Chinese myth, legends, and wuxia. Players will be introduced to Pandaria, a new land south of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms that’s been magically hidden since the time of The Sundering. Mists of Pandaria is the upcoming fourth major expansion pack for World of Warcraft.
